Packing List

**The Essentials: **

• Sleeping Bag & Pillow

• Bible, Journal, Pen (make sure your camper’s name is in their Bible)

• Flashlight or Headlamp (with new batteries)

• Wristwatch (smart watches not recommended)

• Reusable Water Bottle (labeled with your camper’s name)

• Beach Towel for Pool and Lake Activities

• General Toiletries:

  • Toothbrush & Toothpaste
  • Shampoo & Conditioner
  • Hairbrush
  • Soap / Body Wash
  • Deodorant
  • Feminine hygiene products
  • Chapstick
  • Sunscreen
  • Bug Repellent
  • Bath Towel & Washcloth

• Clothing for Five Days:

  • Socks & Underwear
  • Modest, one-piece swimsuit with shorts
  • T-Shirts (crop tops, spaghetti straps, and strapless tops not permitted)
  • Shorts, must be mid-thigh in length
  • Pajamas
  • Pants
  • Sweatshirt
  • Sandals AND closed-toed shoes
  • Shower Shoes
  • Raincoat / Poncho (rain is not uncommon at camp)

** Quiet Activity – something to keep you busy while babysitting and kids are asleep!**

• Book (Kindle), cards, journal, stationary, etc.
• If your CCA chooses to use a Kindle as their babysitting activity, the device will be held onto by your CCA’s counselor during the day and given to them to use exclusively for their time babysitting at night.

** Optional / Encouraged:**

• Hat
• Fan
• Camera (disposable encouraged)
• Dress for awards ceremony
• Small backpack for carrying personal belongings around camp
• Fun props and costumes for Lip Sync Battle and other recreation activities
• Plastic garbage bag for dirty clothing (With Name on it (Recommend Duct Tape/Painters Tape)

** Please Leave the Following Items at Home: **

• Cell Phones
• Electronic Gaming Systems
• Laptops / iPads / Tablets
• Weapons – including firearms, knives, airsoft guns, bb guns, etc.
• Drug / Alcohol / Tobacco Paraphernalia – including juuls, vapes, dab pens, and wax pens.
• Any piercing or tattoo equipment
• Supplies for pranks or hazing
• Anything that is irreplicable, such as a treasured stuffed animal or blanket, or a $1,000 camera. These items are easily lost or damaged at camp and we cannot guarantee their safe return.

Check-In/Check-Out

Check-In / Arrival

• Check-in will take place on the first day of camp from 3:00-5:00PM near Chipmunk Corner. When driving up Valley of the Falls Drive, you’ll see Forest Home signage on the right side of the road directing traffic for CCA check in. In addition to the signs, Forest Home staff will be available to provide additional directions for luggage drop off and parking.
• Dinner will be served promptly at 5:00PM, so please be sure to arrive in time to check in and get settled. In the unfortunate event of a late arrival, please email cca@foresthome.org ASAP.

Check-Out / Departure

• Check out will be on the final day of camp at 10:45AM near Chipmunk Corner where check-in was held. If you need to arrange an early departure, please email cca@foresthome.org to coordinate with Forest Home Staff.

First-Aid/Sending Medications to Camp

Each camper is required to undergo a health screening during check in. Please note, any ill campers should not come to camp until they are symptom-free without medication for 24 hours. If a camper or counselor arrives ill or becomes ill at camp, they may be sent home, subject to the discretion of the camp nurse and first aid policies.

Medication:

• Place all medications in a Ziploc bag with camper name on the bag.
• All medications must be in their original containers for both prescriptions and over the counter (OTC) store-bought medications.
• All prescriptions must have their correct prescription labels
• Print the Medicine Postcard document on bright colored paper and place within zip log back with medication.

The Health Techs on duty will distribute medication during each meal and can be found in the First Aid Station to distribute medications as needed throughout your stay.

Food Allergies/Dietary Restrictions

Please ensure that all dietary requests are indicated on your camper’s online registration form.

Our chefs are trained and able to accommodate the following common dietary allergies:

• gluten free diets
• dairy intolerances
• egg allergies
• vegetarian diets
• vegan diets
• nut allergies (all our kitchens are nut free facilities)

If your camper has a dietary need or allergy that our kitchen is unable to accommodate for (like Celiac Disease), we require that your camper brings their own food to meet their dining needs during their stay.

• If your camper is bringing their own food to camp, pack their pre-cooked meals in pre-portioned microwave safe containers.
• There are refrigerators for storage and microwaves for heating in all dining facilities for guests to use. (Please note there is no prep area)
• If your camper is bringing their own food, please send it in appropriate containers for travel and ensure that it is labeled with your camper’s name.
• We understand many allergies can be very severe, and we cannot fully guarantee that every item served is 100% free from airborne particles or other means of food allergy cross-contamination. The process of bringing your own precooked and pre-portioned food will limit the chance of any allergy cross-contamination.
• There are other areas in camp that may cause allergic reactions that are out of our control, such as in retail food locations, vending machines, or other campers that may bring snacks.

Forest Home has gone Cashless!

All of your camper’s main activities while at Forest Home are covered by their camp registration fees.

There will be opportunities during the week where campers can choose to purchase items. This includes:

• Roundhouse (t-shirts, stickers, hats, etc.)

• The Clubhouse and Stagecoach Coffee Shop (snacks/drinks)

• Craft Cabin crafts/activities

**All of Forest Home’s retail transactions are cashless; all retail purchases must be made by credit card, debit card, apple pay, google pay, Forest Home giftcard, or eGiftcard. **

• eGiftcard

  • This link allows you to load money on to your camper’s account at any time before or during camp.
  • You have the option of adding a telephone number to the account, making it easier for your camper to memorize the number required for making a purchase (for efficiency and ease of use, we strongly recommend using this method).

• • At the end of camp, if your camper does not spend all the money on their eGiftcard, it will remain open so that your camper can use it the next time they are at camp. In the event your camper is not returning to camp within a 12-month period, you can also email refunds@foresthome.org to request a refund for the extra funds on your camper’s eGiftcard. We are only able to process refunds that are requested within 12 months of date of purchase.

Camper Mail

We strongly encourage parents and guardians to send their camper mail one of the two following ways:

• Pack any letters, cards, or packages in your camper’s suitcase for them to find once they arrive at camp.
• Guardians can give camper mail to CCA Staff during check-in, ensuring that each piece of camper mail is labeled with the camper’s name and desired delivery day.

If you choose to send mail via USPS and it does not make it to your camper in time, Forest Home is not responsible for forwarding or returning parcels.

Cell Phones

CCA campers are not allowed to have cell phones with them at camp in order to remain distraction free. While we encourage all campers to leave electronics at home, campers who bring cell phones to camp must turn them into staff for safe keeping throughout the week. All cell phones will be returned at the end of the week or in the event of an emergency.

Forest Home will provide phone service for campers who need to contact their parents/guardians, though campers are generally not able to make or receive phone calls during camp.

If there is a situation with your child at camp that warrants contact of their guardian, you will be contacted by camp staff.

Camper Expectations and Safety

In order to uphold our commitment to camper safety, we enforce the following rules and expectations for campers while they’re at Forest Home:

3 R’s:

• Respect Others and all property
• Resist unsafe behaviors
• Report anything that makes you feel uncomfortable or if rules have been broken

Touch / Talk / Territory:

• Touch:

  • Acceptable: We like handshakes, high-fives, and side hugs.
  • Not Acceptable: It is not acceptable to have any kissing, unwelcomed touching, touching in an area covered by a bathing suit, or touching in any sexual manner.

• Talk:

  • Acceptable: We like encouraging words like “great job” and “you did awesome!”
  • Not Acceptable: It is not acceptable to cuss, slander, gossip, threaten, or discuss topics involving sex, self-harm, or drugs with anyone other than your counselor or a CCA leader.

• Territory:

  • Acceptable: Your bed is your personal space and is a space for you alone.
  • Unacceptable: It is not acceptable to sit or lay on other peoples’ beds and/or go through luggage that does not belong to you. Always stay within the boundaries of camp and be in areas where others can see you.

Forest Home reserves the right in its sole discretion to ask that any CCA who does not follow these standards to change their behavior and/or to be sent home. The Forest Home CCA program is a “Closed Program” and we do not allow visitors or non-registered CCAs to visit. Exceptions can be made for family to visit a CCA getting baptized by contacting cca@foresthome.org

While girls are serving at Forest Home as a CCA, we expect all CCAs to have a servant’s heart and positive attitude. CCAs will be expected to serve, participate in their own programming, and connect with their peers and leaders around them. We expect and encourage all CCAs to approach their responsibilities throughout the week with a positive attitude and the willingness to serve

Recreation

All of these free time options will be available at various times throughout the week, weather permitting:

• Canyon Park – Zipline, Giant Swing, Sky Trail (high ropes course), Giant Tire Swing, Boulder Junction (low ropes course)

• Kinetix Tower

• Swimming Pool, Pool Basketball

• Lake Activities – Waterslides, Swimming, Kayaks, Stand-Up Paddleboards, The Blob

• Hatchet Throwing, Horseshoes

• Table Games – Ping Pong, Foosball, Air Hockey, Billiards, Carpet Ball, Ricochet Ball, etc.

• Beach Volleyball, Basketball, Dodgeball, GaGa Ball, Mini Golf, Disc Golf, Spikeball, Corn Hole, and much more

Non-registered Guests

We have a closed campus.

For the safety of all of our guests, do not instruct anyone to come up to camp (for ANY length of time) who is not a registered guest.

Day passes are not available unless pre-arranged with the Camp Director.

Emergencies

If there is a serious family emergency and a parent needs to contact their child while at camp, they may contact the Forest Home Roundhouse at 909-389-2300 and they can put them in contact with the Camp Director.
